We spent a few moments getting to know our colleague, Dr. Anne Clark, our recently arrived Associate Executive Director for the Georgia Tech Applied Research Corporation (GTARC) and we're excited to share this information about a great new teammate.
Dr. Anne Clark
Associate Executive Director
Georgia Tech Applied Research Corporation (GTARC)
The Georgia Tech Applied Research Corporation (GTARC) provides contracting, grant, and research administration services for the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI), a business segment of Georgia Tech committed to applied research.

How would you explain your job function to a complete stranger?
I work for Jilda Garton, Georgia Tech’s Vice President for Research and General Manager of both the Georgia Tech Research Corporation (GTRC) and the Georgia Tech Applied Research Corporation (GTARC), concentrating specifically on the corporation’s contracting and intellectual property support for GTRI.
What did you do before this job?
I recently retired after a 26-year career as a developmental engineer in the US Air Force. Most recently, I was the commander of the AF Research Lab’s Rocket site at Edwards AFB, CA and before that I was the Military Assistant to the AF Chief Scientist in the Pentagon. I also spent many years on faculty at the USAF Academy in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department.
What is your educational background?
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Electrical Engineering with Honors, United States Air Force Academy, CO
- Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA
- Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Texas at Austin, Austin, TX
What makes working at Georgia Tech great?
The motivated, helpful people willing to make me feel welcome (and answer all of my questions) and the exciting entrepreneur/innovation focus in R&D
What advice would you share with fellow research administrators?
Ask questions early and often. The more warning we have of what you’re trying to do, the better we can support you!
Do you have any recommendations on things to do on or near Georgia Tech’s campus?
I’ve spent the last two years in the middle of the Mojave Desert so am having a blast sampling the fantastic food offerings. I’ve also got a list of fall weekend festivals in and around Atlanta that I want to hit.
Do you have a hidden talent most people don't know about?
I’m raid lead and main tank for a casual adult guild on World of Warcraft. Sadly we have to hit up our members’ teenagers to get through most of the hard stuff.
