How would you explain your job function to a complete stranger?
I manage and prepare documents for Research & Development (R&D) contracts for GA Tech within the Sponsor Programs department.
What did you do before this job?
Prior to starting at Georgia Tech, I resigned from my position at DCMA to become an entrepreneur alongside my husband; and opened/operated our very own New Orleans Styled Shaved Ice stand/store called Bubba’s SnoBalls in Hampton, Virginia. Additionally, I have over 10 years of experience in Department of Defense (DoD) services and corporate industry contracting.
What is your educational background?
BA, Criminal Justice and MBA, Government Acquisitions
What makes working at Georgia Tech great?
Honestly, the feeling of not being stressed out by work. I certainly enjoy the people, culture, and atmosphere of this organization. Those things make my job easier at the end of the day.
What advice would you share with fellow research administrators?
Communication is key in this industry. It’s imperative to be clear and concise, and if you don’t know something, it’s ok, ask questions.
Do you have any recommendations on things to do on or near Georgia Tech’s campus?
I recommend checking out the City Winery in Ponce City Market, they have great live music and the food is delicious. It’s definitely a great date night spot!
Do you have a hidden talent most people don't know about?
I'm a markswoman on both M16 rifle and 50 caliber sniper rifle.
